First Road Trip

What a whirlwind of a week. Isaiah went on his first road trip around the great state of Oregon. This was mainly to introduce him to friends and family that live in Oregon, but also to get away for a bit. We had a great time as a family seeing lots of new places and faces.
We started on Sunday morning and headed to our first destination, Central Oregon. We stayed a couple of days there with Isaiah's Grandma and Grandpa Sasser. It was beautiful. First time for me, Heidi, and I loved it! The mountains were grand. We visited a place called Smith Rock. We all enjoyed the hike around the rocks. I was also able to catch up a bit with my cousin, Natalie and her little boy. Very fun for Isaiah to meet new family members!

Our next stop was Eugene/Springfield to see Isaiah's great grandparents.

After our time there, we headed to Albany to see Joseph's good friend and wife, who is expecting a little girl. We are very excited to meet her in the fall.

Next stop... The OCEAN!!!! My personal favorite! I absolutely love the ocean and everything that it involves... Salt, water, sand, smells, sounds, and on and on. This was Isaiah's first time and it was SO much fun watching him take it in. He put his toes in the sand and FREEZING cold Oregon water. The weather was perfect. Sunshine and a slight breeze. I was pretty amazed to see quite a few people swimming.

That day had to end, but it ended on a good note when we drove to Portland to be with more family. Isaiah met his other great grandma and spent time with family. We also got to meet up with a dear friend of mine from Colorado for lunch. It was a relaxing and FUN time!

We all are happy to be back in our beds and safely back at home. Thanks to everyone who made this trip wonderful!

Heat Wave

Many of you know that we have had some pretty hot weather here in Oregon... Trying to keep cool is the key to most of our days. Luckily, we have access to a pool and air conditioning. Isaiah and I get to stay inside most of the day while Joseph has to work outside landscaping... NOT Fun!
All in all, Isaiah has shown us how he stays cool....

Lights Out!

Last night, we had an incredible lightening storm. To start things out, there was a beautiful sunset with all the bright pinks and oranges and yellows. The clouds were rolling in and lightening was off in the distance. About 10ish, the thunder was getting louder and the lightening was getting closer. Our electricity went out and it was quite dark in our home. Memories?? Oh yes! I have so many memories of sitting in the dark trying to find flashlights or candles down in Ecuador. Lights going out there was a lot more frequent that it is here... AND, it stayed out for long periods of time. I remember going down to my room in the basement in the dark with a small candle hoping that no one would jump out at me...aka, my brothers! haha! Our lights went out here in Medford for 15 minutes or so. We sat on the bed and watched the cool sky with it lightening up all around us. What an amazing sight! Sweet little Isaiah slept through the whole thing! One of these days, Isaiah will be able to enjoy God's cool creation to the fullest!

New things

What fun it is to watch someone see something for the first time and see their reaction. Last night, I got to watch Isaiah's eyes watch all the fireworks. His eyes were big and focused on all the different lights and explosions. He was busy sucking on his fists while being entertained. I absolutely love watching him discover new things daily. I think one of this favorite things right now is his little toy lion that dangles from his play gym. He can stare at that thing for long periods of time. If you pull on his tail, it will make music, so he is figuring out how that works, too. He was able to pull it a couple of days ago, which was SUPER exciting for me, mom. What a BIG world to explore with him. It's going to be a fun ride!!!!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July.
